2010
December

I have bought a yacht for 500 pounds, a copy of the brochure is below. It was flooded with rain water when I bought it and had some delamination of the ply wood in the cabin. It is a bit mouldy inside, so I syphoned the water out of the bilge. The next stage shall be to fit a trapoline over the boat to stop any more water entering. This weekend I shall also power wash the outside to remove some of the greenery.

Some of the other tasks I shall be doing are:
  1. Wash one of the sets of sails and make minor repairs--done
  2. Dry out the cushions--done
  3. Remove any of the overly rotten wood--done
  4. Scrap the old varnish and revarnish--done
  5. Fix the small crack in the rudder and transom--done
  6. Paint the interior--done
  7. Refit the rotten parts of the interior--done
  8. Have a few small holes in the sails stiched up--done
  9. Shorten the outer shrouds--not done
  10. Fit the impellor--done
  11. Build a wind turbine--done
  12. Wire the notebook, lights, speed and depth guages--done
A wish list of things I would like to buy:
  1. Flares--got
  2. Car battery--got two of these
  3. Charts and accessories--bought about 300 cancelled admiralty charts for 450 pounds.
  4. Railing and jack line wire for clipping into--used webbing straps for this. Did not aquire any railings
  5. Solar shower--got
  6. Satalite phone--not got
  7. Fire extinguisher--got
  8. Life raft--not got
  9. life jacket--got
  10. Solid fuel blocks--got a gas stove instead.

2011
July

As can be seen from the anotations on the list a lot has been done since last year. Below is a picture of the boat after all the work was completed. I say all meaning all of the work that I listed, but many other things have also been mended and improved. I wont be listing further work much since I have realised that it is never ending.

Below is a picture of the boat before painting.

Here is the finished rudder.

A wind dodger that I made.

Tiller extension.

Engine bracket reinforced with GRP.

Water wheel for the the speedometer.

First attempt at wiring up

The ceilling freshly painted.

Cupboards nearly finished.
